I would take the view of better the devil you know. That car may have a lot of hidden issues, aside form the engine. I would think you would be better off taking the bits (if any) you want off it (probably the LSD, but not the suspension 
) and further develop your own existing car. With the proceeds you could easily get the VStage3 kit and go a long way to a rebuild. Obviously this is all dependent on the sell price of your own car if you went that way...
