Anyone from the Lynchburg or Roanoke, Virginia area?
Hello all. I am presently in the Atlanta, GA area...and might soon be relocating to the Lynchburg, VA area. I currently have a 86 951 and was wanting to see if there were any other 951's or 944's in the area. I was there visiting on Friday and noticed there weren't many Porsche's around. I did see one Boxster though. Where would the closest repair shop or dealership be from Lynchburg?
What I've notived is that most people on this list who live in Virginia are located on the eastern coast and north up towards D.C.
TIA

For reference: according to the 2000 census, 1/7th of the Virginia populus resides in Fairfax County up north.
I know we have some members in the Lynchburg area. I travel back and forth from Norfolk to NoVA, so I'm sure we can arrange a get together with some people sometime.

I have family that live in Blacksburg. I know there were a couple of 944 Rennlist people that went to VT. I know of one rennlister who was selling 951 parts in Christianburg. Roanoke is a good size town, not as big as Atlanta but then it also doesn't have the traffic.
Several 951 owners I chated with at VIR last year were from the Roanoke area and had local shops that serviced there cars. If you like the track the car, Danville and VIR is straight down route 29 from Lynchburg. If you like the outdoors lifestyle, this is a wonderfull area.

Probably not big Porsche territory, but pretty country and about 1/2way between VIR and Summit Point, worth considering.

umm porsche is very big in virgina...we have purchased two porsches from there. Roanoke was where I got my 951. There are several porsche shops in the area and the p-car crowd up there is pretty strong from what I remember two years ago. Just make a trip to VIR and make some contacts...I think you will be surprised.

Good point, though - being equidistant from two places isn't the same as being close. I'm about 3800 miles from either track right now, fat lot of good it does me!
So, let me revise my statement: 2 hours to SP or VIR is something worth considering when relocating :-)
