Default Addressing the lack of 944 related publications...

Well, there might not be a 944-specific magazine, but at least there are a few neat books out there, dealing with this model line in nice detail.

One of them is from a retired Porsche Engineer - Jörg Austen - who describes the history of the 4-cylinder front engine waterpumpers by each model year, with lots of photos, drawings, and tables of technical data. German. Special offer to rennlist members in the US and Canada: $48 including shipping (while supplies last).

Contact me via Email, if you are interested in getting a copy.

Sister publications on the 928 and 911 are also available.

Yeah, while I'd love to read it, I don't feel like learning German just to do it.

I talked to the publisher, and they have no plans to publish it in English - unfortunately. However, even if you don't fully understand German, it is a pretty interesting book: It compares the different models for every year (e.g. US and Rest of World) with detailed technical data, explains the VIN numbering, has lots of pictures and some unique drawings that were not published before (remember, this is a retired engineer with access to insider info other authors don't get).

You might end up finding that German and English have more similarities than you ever thought... BTW: Reading magazines and books was a big help when I learned English - because my curiosity gave me a reason to make an effort. Reading a little German might reveal some facts and stories about your cars that you had never heard before... But even if you don't read that part, the pictures, diagrams and data tables are very interesting.

Anyway, I have a hand full of these available, if you're interested.

I also have a number of brand new Herpa 944 scale models - these have been out of production forever. One in burgundy, the rest in very dark blue - almost black. Plus, I have a few 924s in various colors.
