Default # of 951s left in the U.S.

I've seen production #'s for the amount of 951s made, but is there any way to know/guess how many are left? Are there ways to get that information from the DMV? It sure seems like a lot of them are wrecked or get parted out and there were't all that many to begin with.

I haven't seen any real figures but I would guess the large majority of 951's originally sold here are no longer on the road. Back in the late 1980's, 944's and 951's were a common sight on the roads here in Greater Boston. Now 944's are relatively rare and I almost never see a 951 on the road, except at Rennlist/PCA events.

Well unless you had access to the DMV computers in every state and happened to pull out every 944 Turbo registered.

It might be easier to start with the total (known) and subtract out all those known salvaged. That information is more likely to be given up by DMVs.

This sounds like quite the task. Is there any perticular reason you wanted to know? Or just curious?

This is what the vairous registries are for - attempting to determine the number of remaining cars. I think we have a registry here on Rennlist - but I'll be darn if I can remember where it is. I recall a post a few years back where everyone started posting "I've got one" - that was a hoot! Don't recal how far we got before everyone lost interest.

Whatever the US imported numbers were, my best guess would be 25% are no longer on the road and another 15-20% are withering on the vine clinging to life.
