Yep, original brakes that were black with a nice flaky clear coat. Took me 2 evenings to get them off, brushed and spray painted red. Then I used a dremel with a small sanding cylinder (1/2in) to scrape the paint off the porsche letters. Very easy and gives a brushed aluminum look to the letter, which is very close to the original look.

So you were able to sand the paint down to the metal, only where the PORSCHE lettering was? It's so simple, I can't believe I never thought of it! Thanks for inspring my next weekend project.

BTW: What paint did you use?

I can't recall which brand of paint I used, but any brake caliper paint should do

rear view of the beast! some of you might have seen my car featured in 2 european porsche mags ( 911 porsche world and gt purely porsche ) both were july 04 issues. the car belonged to andrew sweetenham of promaxmotorsport.com until i bought it from him about this time last year. its now sporting irish plates ( thats where im from originally but im living in the usa currently ) it'll be xmas before i get back to fire her up again!!!!!
