anyone use just dashes before
http://www.justdashes.com/index_home.htmny experience wit just dashes
I see they have a 944 dash listed and a pic of one redone. I phoned they can match up color and texture. All for around 700-800. takes 2 weeks. Was told material will not crack due to materials used. So if anyone has used this service let me know sure beats a cap and buying new.

I haven't used them personally but have seen an installed dash that was redone by them. The color match was perfect and the texture match was 99%. It was very nice work but is a bit pricey.

well that sounds promising...actually compared to a new dash pretty cheap new is anywhere 3500 to 7000. I wonder if still constructed the same way...or has porsche corrected the problem with cracking

Ian,
I just built a 951 for my dad that had a terrible dash. After searching for few months I found an original NOS dash in the Porsche box and wrapper. Had a build date of 1994. Final price.....$630 I've seen others as well but only a few a year come up for sale but they're out there.

I've found a local guy who swears he can recover the OEM dash (in leather) for less than the price of Just Dashes. I am trying to get him a test 944 dash, and someone else is trying to pull in a test 928 dash.
If it works out i'll post about it soon.

How much is he talking about? I have an extra dash that I would love to get recovered in leather. Maybe if we get enough of them together we can get a deal.

Any progress on recovering the dash in leather? From what I have read in the posts, everybody experiences warping with the covers. It also seems like a waste of money to buy a used vinyl dash knowing that it's ultimately a time bomb just waiting to crack.
It appears to me that the best way, is to either cover everything in leather or vinyl....or call just dashes and make sure that they have all of the switches to verify clearances with the pod. Did the pods come in leather? Anybody have a picture?
Any other solutions?

they actually take off all thecovering on the original dash and use newer form of foam (tighter structure to prohibit different expansion bewteen vinyl and foam ). More to what new cars have. I may just gowith just dashes...and hope the cracking issue will be gone forever!!!

i read an article somewhere on the 928 forum where a guy detailed a process to recondition/repair/refinish a 928 dash and had very good results. the only problem was you still had to take the dash off. if i can find the link i'll post, otherwise try searching.

I have seen OEM new dashes sell for $400-500 on Ebay, but not often. I bought a perfect second hand one for $400. I've seen used ones go for $300.
It's all timing. I HATED my nasty dash, so I wasn't going to wait for the perfect deal. I was lucky to get a good deal. But would have paid $700 if I had waited a few more months because it would drive me nuts.

We've got one out of the wrecked track car. Very small spider webing around the defrost vents, one small tear by the passenger left leg that is covered up by the console. Anyone interested, PM "jwl" for pics before it goes on ebay. Black upper, beige lower.
