Rage man, I thought I was the only one drifting in a 951! However I have the 2.5L which is harder to get sideways, and I'm not a pro, but when I bought the car and started putting sideways, I thought to myself wow this is a lot easier than drifting in the G35!! I've only had the car for a month and I plan to set it up as a drift car. Please tell me what kind of upgrades do you have/or plan on having to the car espicially suspension wise. All info is aprreciated!! HAPPY Drifting

I got tons of footage of my 951. What exactly are you looking for? Roadcourse? Drag racing? Drifting? Fun on the street? I got vids of me in tons of other cars too, or are you looking for Porsche action only?

Let me know what you want, and what kind of quality and resolution you want and I'll put something together for you.

I doubt you'd want the HDTV clips of everything hehe.

no Digital 8 quality is fine.....maybe some mini DV at the max.

I have ton's of your video's already but, they are all the old stuff. So anything new you have done in the past year would be something I am interested in. Thanks alot.

Suspension wise, 28mm rear torsion bars, front is 450lb springs on a ground control coilover setup. Koni yellows all around, rear is on 50% (always has been because it's a bitch to adjust), front is on full firm. This helps maintain front tire contact during weight transfer, allowing the rear to stay loose, and not "bite" and grip during a drift. If I could go full soft on the rears, I'd most likely help. I also have the M030 sway bar.

Engine wise, I have a 2.8L big bore with a T04E 60 trim turbo, 0.70 A/R housing and full standalone. This turbo is NOT the ideal drift turbo, it's too big. With the 2.5L, I ran a T04E 57 trim turbo, again way too big for drifting, too small a powerband. The only reason I have such big turbos is because occasionally, I drag race and hot lap with race gas, and turn up the boost to make 450+whp.

If you have a 2.5L, and stay on pump gas, the BEST turbo would be a Garrett GT28RS. There's a reason why this turbo is such a popular drift turbo in Japan... it makes good power (tops out around 350whp), has a really wide compressor map, and spools instantly. On a properly setup 2.5L, it should have a usable powerband of around 2300-7000rpm. For our weight and street tires, anything over 320whp is overkill for drifting. You only need more power if you're on really grippy tires or do high speed 3rd gear drifting like the D1 guys.

And of course a standalone to tie it all together .

We used to do similar thing on country roads years ago. Coming round fast bends sideways and seeing how far you could keep the back end out, is this now a sport in US?? Do you have a LSD?

Yes I have LSD. Drifting is real popular in the US, it's starting to pick up here in Canada for the drivers. I ended up being the one to setup the first drift events here in our area because I really wanted to get it going heh.

In Japan, if you watch old Option magazine videos, they've been drifting forever. I first learned about it around 94, and actually did some (****ty) street drifting in my 951.

You're hard on your toys! Don't you worry about the concrete wall and the light post? They both look pretty hard.

I had an e28 5 series, it was a drifting monster. Too bad I had to part with it to get my 951. The 5er was perfect, 20/80 wight distribution. Awesome!

hehe, ya, I'm hard on the equipment, but I do maintain it well, which is the important thing I think haha.

As for the wall and the light post, gotta use all the track I can! I was confident in making the drifts ok in that area... would've backed off if anything felt off. As for the banking, you'll notice that I went slow up there, no confidence just yet!

All you need now is a big aluminum spoiler, a 5" coffee-can exhaust tip, and a bunch of stickers.

Seriously, those are pretty cool. I don't understand the "sport" aspect of drifting, but it's kinda fun to watch cars slide around shredding tires. First time I saw it I thought it was just an intermission, crowd-pleaser event in between the main events. Then I learned it WAS the main event.

Anyone drifiting a 911?
