Any Atlanta, GA 951/944 turbo owners?
Anyone out there? I just recently joined Peachstate PCA. Email me at capitan100@aol.com if you want to get together. I just recently bought a 1986 944 turbo with some mild mods on it. Would like some help/advice etc.... on upgrades and maintenance. I have to replace the oil pan gasket soon. I know it is a 12 hour job. I just purchased an engine support bar to hold up the engine when I remove the crossmember and suspension pieces. Any advice on the oil pan gasket task?

Welcome to Atlanta. There are many 951 owners.. Which part of town do you live?
Did you sign up for the DE in October yet?

I live in Duluth....right near Alpharetta..... at Medlock Bridge and Abbotts Bridge....
I did not sign up for the DE event, but I will be at the Oct 10th autocross. I also went to my first PCA meeting a couple of weeks ago.

There are certainly a number of 951/944's in Atlanta although I seem to see many more at the track than I do on the road. welcome to the PCA, I have found the people in the Peachstate PCA to be great, makes owning a cash hog worth while.
PM me if you like, although I can't help you with the oil pan gasket. I had Performance Imports on Ptree industrial/Tilly mill do the job for me. As it turned out it was not the gasket but the oil pump that was leaking, glad I did not take the car apart to find that out!!!

Thanks Hank.... I took mine to German Car Repair and Alan Kidson said it was the oil pan gasket.... I drive by Performance Imports everyday. I live up in Duluth.. I probably need to take it to Perf Imports just to get a second opinion. We ought to get together sometime....Her is a pic of my car...if you see me....flag me down...LOL I don't drive it everyday though.....Just once a week or so....

Jeez, it looks just like mine! you can see mine at http://public.fotki.com/jgriffin/951/
I use the Fikse's on the track, and have a set of boxster twists for the street, sound familiar??
I am going to try to make the auto-x in October, have not made one yet all year, that sux, but I have made all of the track events so that evens it out.
No complaints with Perf imports, rather only good things to say. They know these cars well. Tell Peter or Bob or David that I gave them some kudos if you stop by there. They have been good to me (and I to them if you know what I mean).

Very very nice Hank....... car looks awesome..... What mods do you have? Where in Atlanta do you live? We need to hook up sometime. I am still very new to this car. I just got it about a month and a half ago. The prev owner owned a Dyno shop in Birmingham, AL....He did all the mods to the car in the last year. I am wanting to get a MAF and bigger injectors..as well as a Wide Fire Ring head gasket.....LOL...Then eventually a full 3 inch exhaust.......and an Apexi AVC-R boost controller.....

boosted951, you are not far at all from me. I'm in Alpharetta (Windward area). Peroformance Import off of Peachtree Industrial do good work. Also International Performance in Roswell do nice work and maintain many race cars... Of course, for the go fast goodies, yours truly

hey boosted951 i would definitely recommend you talk to john if you're going to do more go fast goodies, especially since you have the advantage of being so close. i'm much further away, in athens, and he's helped me an incredible amount.

LOL Hank.....I also heard that Guards Red was the fastest color too.......I think red gives cops the "suspicion" that red porsches are 20mph faster than any other color....
