Maybe you guys can help me with my tire size problem too. I have an n/a 87 944 and an 88 951S. If I wanted some track/autocross wheels and tires that would fit both, what should I get? Front and rear.
Thanks,
Justin

"Danno, Those are some big tires! Care to share how you got em to fit"
Well, they do rub at more than 3" suspension travel. But I attribute that to the 1.5" larger diameter. The front of the tyre reached forward and rubs on the fender directly ahead (3 & 9 o'clock) where it curves inward. I've got the fender lip folded 180-degrees over onto itself and ground off most of the rough corners so when the tyre does rub, it doesn't encounter any sharp edges.
The tyre also rubs on the inside fender about 6" ahead and up from the shock-bolt.
I managed to get the 17x11.5" wheels to fit similar to what Indica did, I increased offset compared to stock. But rather than just a 7mm increase to 30mm offset, I've got 35mm offset or a full 1/2-inch more than stock. That places most of the extra width on the inside. So that pretty centers the tyre even between the inner & outer rub points. I think I'm gonna get 1" wider fenders and run a 15mm spacer to give myself a little more room.
