Sorry to hear about you and the car.

Your best bet is to find published pricing (replies to your posting won't count in the insurance company's eyes).

Find things like the Excellence price guides, cars for sale of similar year and condition with listed prices in newspapers, advertised cars in Pano and Excellence, there's a market report I've seen in Pano (might be worth spending a few $$), written quotes from local dealers or retailers with similar cars for sale, KBB and Edmunds price estimates as if you were trying to sell the car, etc. Focus on what it will cost you to replace the car, which is likely a lot more than the Blue Book and NADA guides.

Routine maintenance you spent on the car won't help to raise the value. However, permanent modifications may help.

I'd have the car checked quickly. If there is little or no damage in front of the rear suspension nor to the drivetrain, it might make a decent track car for a few $$k in repairs.

Wow on the pic! Holy crap! If they try to offer you $4k, just ask them where you can buy one, that nice, that cheap and you gladly take your offer. Autotrader/Ebay (sometimes) and cars.com should be good resources.

In the end I would also find out what you can buy it back for. A ton of good parts on there...

Sorry for your loss.

remember you can dispute what they offer you...

i'd expect anywhere from 7-9k at best... buy back the salvage rights, keep your wheels, and any other saleable / reusable parts, you'll likely make 4-5 times whatever the salvage rights are.

how many PM's have you gotten from the vultures?

That pic is incredible.
What happened? Did the guy/gal not see that big black car in the way?

I've had an insurance deal work out very favorably, so it isnt always bad.
Best of luck! Sorry about your car.

Hehe, LOTS of people wanting to know about parts so far. Not sure what the cost for buying it back will be yet so I dont know any details on parts. A trailblazer hit me while I was stoped at a light, estimated speed was 45mph. Their vehicle looked worse and they were transported to the hospital... I was lucky.

If people in a trailblazer went to the hospital you are EXTREMELY lucky.
I would thank your car. She must have liked you.
