Default 944 wiper motor doesn't spin mechanism

I have a 1987 951 and the wiper motor siezed. I rebuilt it and removed all the clogging rust stuck in it. When I put it back together it spin just fine, (without the mechanism on it) once the mechanism is tightened on the knurled motor thread thing, the motor makes noise but it doesn't spin the mech. It needs me to help it move around. I did notice the mehcnaism is quite stiff, even with lube. Is there a clutch in the motor that slips when there's too much torque? I checked the gears, those aren't work down at all and engage with the worm gear fully. Is it the mechanism or the motor? Can the torque be adjusted? Help!!!
