My intake manifold is off.

What would you do with your 30 year old intake manifold removed?

Here is a list of things you could do with the intake manifold removed by fellow enthusiasts.

1. Venturi Delete by Lindsey racing https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Por...VDK-VHK-S.html
2. replace vacuum lines
3. relocate heater control valve (can be relocated without intake manifold removed but with the intake
manifold removed it will be easier).
4. Delete cycling valve (running a manual boost controller now). https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/VACDIA.html
5. Install Nissan Alternator
6. Install Laust 5 port vacuum manifold piece to simply simplify/clean up vacuum lines: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...her-stuff.html
7. Install new intake manifold gaskets
8. Install Intake and Exhaust block off plates: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...ff-plates.html
9. replace the little O-ring at the bottom of that oil dipstick tube. LR has it I believe
10. Replace old rubber
11. Make sure wife does not see me taking car apart again.

anything else? I know there are a bunch of sensors and an AOS thing down underneath the intake manifold too.

Definitely the AOS seals and the supports for the ICV, in fact anything made of rubber is due replacement under there.

I'd replace anything rubber that's easy to get to with the intake off, and that you can get hold of quickly. Personally I wouldn't wait for parts just because the intake is off though - with practice you can remove it very quickly. For the AOS seals, the turbo has to come out. I wouldn't consider that just because the intake happens to be off.

My bad, I forgot my heat shield was cut for access by a po so that the turbo doesn’t need removing for the aos to be removed.

For number 4, have fun getting its bracket out

I agree that taking the intake off is not a major move. The hardest part is cleaning the leftover gasket material and, of course, having new gaskets handy.

You might want to replace the little O-ring at the bottom of that oil dipstick tube. LR has it I believe

Put a little grease on the new gaskets, and you'll never have leftover gasket material again.

RE: Vacuum lines... I would (I did) install this super-cool vac manifold from Laust https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...her-stuff.html

It simplifies all the lines by getting rid of the Tee's; each vac lines runs straight to the manifold.

Thanks guys, I’ve updated the list. Please keep them coming :-).
It was a rather intimidating procedure because it was my first time. My biggest concern was struggling with the 8 bolts that hold the intake manifold down by the gaskets. But I removed them with no issues what so ever. It was pretty easy now looking back at it. Just had to take my time. Probably took me 2-4 hours with the fuel rails already removed. The write-up on pelican-parts was invaluable and I could not have done it without it.

I would love to do that but my engine is still in the engine bay.

Hmmm... I was thinking about this question of yours about what else would we do. Is stripping down the entire front of the car and rebuilding it with performance parts out of the financial limits of your question? Because you already have your intake off. Quick put it back on before your bank account catch’s what whatever mine did! I’ll have you know the intake manifold is one of the main starting points for a virus on a checking account. Now ask yourself, do you really need all those parts? Yea maybe, probably more because it’s a 30+ year old sports car now. On that note, yea you should just strip it down and go full rebuild. It’s not my bank accounts so it’s ok.
