I've owned a long list of Porsche's, but the 944 is completely foreign to me. Decided to scoop one up yesterday and so far I am nothing but impressed! Found a 1986 944 Turbo with just over 100k miles in excellent shape. I can't believe the amount of effort the previous owner put into keeping this car immaculate. Guards red on black, LSD...sold new in Boston then lived in SoCal for a while...now at home near Toronto. It has been lowered slightly on Ground Control coilovers but otherwise remains stock. I look forward to learning more about these cars this year. A few pics:

Dusty from storage but extremely clean underneath

Trailer ride home

Cleaned up

Previous owners were George Nedder (MA), Mark Clemons (MA), Dean Gittleson (CA)...in case any of you are out there.

Congrats, that car does look great.

Interior is in really good shape.

Now, what is the plan for your wheels?

Thanks. The wheels are growing on me...they're freshly refinished and look better in person than in pics. Will likely leave them unless I see a great deal on Fuchs.

Beautiful! To me, this is the most iconic 944 turbo, Guards Red with early offset phone dials. I love Fuchs, but if this was my car, I would leave it looking just the way it is! Enjoy.

Thanks...I like that it is identical to the press cars/brochure cars/poster cars of the time.

That looks like a really nice car! My 2ct. is resist the urge to mod. Although these cars are easy and relatively simple to make significant power gains, it quickly snowballs and then you're driving a razor focused simi track car. When you get these cars on the open road and roll into the throttle at 60 mph that's where these cars shine. It's only original once.

I have no plans to touch this car beyond maintenance and fixing any nagging 'quirks' or signs of age. Little things like replacing the A/C control ***** with fresh ones, replacing window switch trim surround, etc. It's also due for a good polish/coating on the paint. Other than making it as minty as possible, I'm just going to drive it like I stole it...as is.

Yahtzee ! Car looks superb... I really like the Guards Red + black interior (w/ script seats which are so cool when in good shape)

Red 86's w/ the different offset always felt to me like the ultimate 80's car. Way cooler than an e30 M3 . I ended up with a white one but... the red is iconic and they've become rare enough that it's always a total thrill to see a good one.

PS it looks goooood lowered. Is this along lines of what you have / love to see underhood/suspesion pics when you get a chance?

Engine & underside. Not a spec of corrosion to find anywhere, and not a single leak (not even any sweating).

.

If you want any plating done I am in Calgary and there is a shop I use for plating my parts. Not sure if there are any sources near where you live but it can improve the look of some of the steel parts.

WOW, congrats on the purchase and welcome to the 951 community. Not often do you see a virgin 951 ( not modded ).
