Koni Motorsport or TurboCup or what?

Picked up a set of 4 Koni double adjustable shocks, springs, etc... Thought initially the rears were 968 M030 with helper springs but these clearly came off something else. Date codes on the Konis are 10/86 Guy that I got them from said they came off a late 1988 944 Turbo S that he bought new from the dealer.... Any thoughts on the origins or what they are....Here is the numbers stamped on them

Fronts 951 343 031 30 & 951 343 032 30 These are ride height adjustable like normal M030 stuff, adjustable at top with knob, and adjustable at bottom, springs appear to be the variable pitch/thickness with 2 light blue dots

Rears 951 343 521 00 These have helper springs that are not ride height adjustable (not coil overs) and are adjustable at bottom with flat blade screwdriver and at top via slit cut in toward top mount

One rear & one front disassembled

Both rears, notice on top mount area the slit where the upper adjustment is made (can only see on one of them)

Those rears are really interesting. Have never seen that top mount before or what I think is the preload adjustment at the bottom.

Not much help here, even more variation in this thread (https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...r-springs.html). Oddjob (Jim) is very knowledgeable on this subject, might shoot him a message.

Thanks some more info coming in but believe these to be from an 87/88 Turbo/Cup Escort Cup Car

You probably know this but if the front coil overs have an adjuster at the bottom (can't tell from the photo) they were rebuilt at some point and made into double adjustable.

They do have an adjuster at the bottom but believe they came this way on the Escort Cup cars (double adjustable)

Doh, that's probably true. Nice find.

Some further info from those over on Pelican.

Those are 1986 Turbo Cup dampers/springs as described in link attached in previous post.

1987-89 Turbo Cups used a different setup

Ok - those are the koni double adjustable suspension for the 1986 US Escort/Clubsport cars. Euro Cups used Bilstein, the US Escorts had the konis. The front springs are not the original springs. You have the later 87+ Cup springs, and corresponding lower perch. The original springs were a constant coil diameter and constant wire diameter progressive wound spring similar to the weltmeister 200-250 lbs aftermarket springs. See pic below.

The later cup springs are quite a bit higher rate than the 86 springs, so what you have will not be well matched/balanced (87+ front with the 86 rear helpers).

The M637 suspension parts would not have come from the factory on an 88TS car. These were not production parts, but having factory part numbers means they very likely came thru Porsche Motorsport North America. Would be unusual for a dealer to have sourced and mounted them on a new car, so there is maybe more to the story than what the seller stated.

The 87+ Escort/Cup/Clubsports used 8742 front Konis and 8242 rear coilovers with a progressive coilover.

These were part numbers:

Struts
951 343 031(32) 33
Front Springs
951 343 531 32
Rear shocks
951 333 031(32) 34
Rear spring
951 333 531 32

Old add from an Andial catalog, probably early 90's.

Another comment - the flat horizontal brake line tab on these 86 struts won't work with the two piece brake lines used on the M030/928S4 calipers.
