OEM finish on 944 M030 brake calipers???
I've read that they were anodized then cleared and of course I've also read that they are painted. Anyone have the definitive answer?

The early calipers were anodized black, then clear coated. Later ones were painted (or powder coated). I believe the change is when they went from the raised lettering to the white sticker/painted "Porsche", so early 90's.

Been playing with quite a few calipers lately and i am fairly certain that they were all anodized for corrosion protection, on the later ones you can see this on the mounting legs and in the piston holes .
And like Jim said ,early type were then clear coated and later type were painted over .

I am doing a set of early 951 calipers right now , dated '85 .
I have sandblasted them , removed all the hardware ,split them , removed all pistons and seals.
They are ready to go and get anodized next week and the hardware zinc plated . This will be for corrosion protection only as i will be painting them after like the later style calipers.
I have all new pistons and seals for them , a few new guide plates ,titanium bolts for the guide plates and titanium bleeders . Only what is in perfect condition will get reused .
I am doing them as the later style were done (paint instead of clear coat) because i think the clear coat will show too many imperfections like dings ,scrapes and pitting from the over 30 years of use . Paint will hide some of those imperfections and i also want them red .
I will post pictures when i'm done.

True-6 does anodizing and complete caliper rebuilding.

Same for these guys:
PMB Performance
BTW I'm thinking of doing the job myself and using this stuff. I have access to a sandblaster and have spray equipment. I might be able to use the oven at work, if I don't get caught doing it. haha
Cerakote
Thanks
