968 3.0 16v turbo. Anybody got any experience with a Garrett gtx 3076
Currently building the new engine and having the fabrication done for exhaust and inlet manifold etc. I need to choose the turbo so this can be completed. I’m currently looking at a gtx3076r gen2. With an ar housing of 0.83. Does anybody have any experience with this turbo and a 3.0 turbo 16v engine? |

I'd let it go real cheap if you are interested, only had dyno time before I got it and stored it for years after that. For what you could get this for, you could have it disassembled, checked and modded to whatever you want. I might even still have the modded stock/polished crossover that bolts directly up to it with stock engine mount pedestal location. Best of my recollection, 3.0 16V, good for 500 bhp. T |
It’s a bit small really, if your getting manifolds made get them done twin scroll, it’s pretty simple assuming you are rhd. It’ll drive a lot better |
And these guys could build your twin scroll exhaust being close to you in the same country.

I personally wouldn't use that turbo. Although i have the Gen1 GTX3067r .63 (had a .82 also) on my 2.5L.
A GTX3576R is a more suited combo vs the GTX3076R due to the compressor wheel being to big for a 30 frame turbo. if you're building a street car, i'd go with a GTX3576R with a .83 v band in and out housing. according to the garrett site (which is now a PITA to navigate though) they dont do twin scrolls anymore, or it's very rare. and also speaking to a rep he even told me there's no real need anymore for twin scroll turbos. something to do with them being more efficient now than they use to be especially with their new G series. |
Thanks for the reply. We were considering twin scroll but didn’t really know enough about them. With a goal of 450-500 hp but with good early boost, drivability as apposed to more power would you have a recommendation. E85 is not readily available in the UK/Mallorca were I live so l am also thinking about water meth injection again not for extra power but for cylinder cooling and reduced knock. Any knowledge would be appreciated. |

Thanks for the lead but my car is already at my fabricator having the inlet manifold made and booked in for exhaust turbo and intercooler pipeing hence why I need to sort turbo. |

Any thoughts on aftermarket cams as this engine was not originally designed for a turbo. Also wasted spark, individual coils. Is it worth the work. |
There is still garrett twin scroll turbine housings around, should be available from any decent turbo supplier, I think it's worth the effort. Stock cams are fine for a street car.

Stand-alone engine management system is definitely advised. COP fits within the stand-alone scheme. You'll need to figure out the intercooler arrangement if your using a 968 body. If its in a 944 body - you're a step ahead from an intercooler perspective as well as the electrics. |

I do agree with Rod, he's had a good amount of Exp with twin scrolls. if you can find a twin scroll housing it might be worth while. but obliviously $$$$ on the exhaust manifold. |

The turbo kit guys have all sorts of inlets and outlets that you could desire, give you some idea of what is available.. You can get an idea about different grinds from the Milledge site.
