use the 1.01 like this, and use a Garrett housing

https://gcg.com.au/petrol-performanc...1-01a-r-detail

there is also a v band twin scroll available. Because it’s divided you can go up a size in a/r

Dont go too big on the crossover pipes. The 16V is a great engine.

That’s a Brey Krause brace in the pic, I’m not sure if they are still available but there are other types around. I think they help.

Is there a difference in v band housing and T3 housing both twin scroll or is it just the fixing type that changes. Only T3 available at the moment in the UK on GTX35 1.01 AR Housings. What size would you recommend for crossover pipes.

These 3lt 16v turbos breathe very well and the extra capacity will take care of lag. You don't want to compromise flow in the upper rpms with too small a housing. It will just go into choke and potentially cause other problems with egts.

If you want to reply to multiple people just click 'Multi Quote' at the bottom rh side of their posts. Click on each one you wish to reply to and then hit reply at the bottom of the page. You can then answer everyone in a single post. Good luck with the build.
Good advise. I have had a little bit of work done on the head so this should improve flow again more reason for larger housing as advised.

The GTX3576R 0.82 has been the best configuration for my particular engine and I strongly doubt that a GT30 frame turbo would suit a 16V engine.
If you stick to standard 968 camshafts I would imagine that a GT35 0.82 housing would still be large enough.

I would not spend the extra for any of the Gen 2 GTX turbo. They seem a lot more pricey than their Gen 1 counterparts and the compressor maps suggest less efficiency.
Thanks good real life info.

The T3 will work fine, it's just the connection that differs, no bigger than 41mm id on the crossover pipes, that should work out to 1.75" tube.

Apologies for a brief thread hijack - but for a dry-sumped tuned 2.5 litre 8 valve with tuned head / 70mm TB / SFR intake & standalone - would the G25-550 be a good option & would the G25-660 be too big?

Thingo: where did you buy that crossover pipe? Or is it a custom piece? Also, is that pipe made for dual waste gates? I’ve been out of the turbo game for a while - sorry for newbie question. (I do have a 16v motor, so I am looking to this thread to learn)

Both would work but i'd go the 660.
The 25-660 is equivelent to a GTX2867 in size and GTX3071 - GTX3076R in power.

Having a few available stocking problems. One of the dealers has offered me a Borg Worner 7670 with a 1.01 housing T4 twin scroll housing. He is stating this is a very similar turbo. Isthis the case or should I stick with the GTX3576R gen 2 T3 twin scroll 1.01 housing? If the Garrett is the one to go for I would rather wait and get the best turbo for the job. The only other benefit with the Borg turbo is that my fabricator would prepare the T4 housing for the available space as it’s quite tight as you are aware.

Is it an EFR Borg Warner?
