Rusted inlet to muffler - fixable?
The connection of the inlet pipe to my aftermarket catback muffler has rusted away, as shown below:

I'd replace it. You could probably put some patch metal around it or something, but it will still be rusty inside. My original muffler dropped onto the highway and dragged along at 60mph from the same basic thing... That was fun.

Upon closer inspection, the inlet to the muffler wasn't actually rusted; it looks like it just broke away from the muffler as a result of an impact (my car sits quite low). My new neighbor, a fellow car enthusiast, has a welder, so he kindly welded it back for me, and so far, so good. It's probably just my imagination, but the engine seems to run a little smoother, and rev a little more freely.
