I also replaced the oil pump drive sleeve. Is that the one you were referencing?

Rear main , I actually try NOT the put the big round seal all the way back so the lip will find a fresh spot to seal against. Also after the pan is all tourqed , there is quite a crevice where the half moon portion of the pan is, I pack that with "Right stuff" gasket maker just for a little more insurance.

I just spoke with Mike Lindsey from Lindsey Racing. He says he has not had any leaking 944's since he started to perform the following on all pan gaskets. He highly recommended I do the same:

"Use automotive grade Lacquer Thinner, use a well damped rag and clean off all the oily residue on both sides of mating surface until the rubber feels tacky at the mating surfaces (both sides). Use Permatex 599 on the rounded corner to 1.5 inches out, and make sure dab some 599 at the seam between the oil pump gasket surface and block surface"

He says, and it kinda makes sense, the pan gaskets have a film of oily residue on them from when they were put into their respective molding casts. The oily residue helps them dismount their casts. If you don't do this the gasket will slide quite a bit!

I'm gonna try this as soon as I get all my stuff in.

Jaime
