AutoThority MAF potentiometer?
Can anyone help here? Im working on a 951 with the autothority MAF. It had a Potentiometer wired in, but it was ripped off by the headlight mechanism, and theres nothing left.
Can anyone tell me anything about it, where to get one/how to wire it up?
thanks!

Well...Autothority is one of the 944 companies that didn't make it thru that 2008 market crash era. The next best thing is install a factory AFM. The chips in the computer also have to be changed to match the AFM/MAF, injector size, displacement, turbo size, exhaust size, throttle body size, cam, and known type of DME pins 24 or 28. Give us more info. Do you have $ to burn on a Lindsey Racing Rogue tune MAF kit? If so then get that. Or buy a stand alone.

I have had that setup for years. The pot is for adjustment at idle. I'd have to measure it because I cannot remember what value it was . if you ever upgrade let me know. I'd be interested in it and the chips . mine has never let me down and I move it between my three cars...depending on which one I'm driving.

The APE MAF has a potentiometer in place of a AFM temperature sensor. The idea was that you would statically adjust the pot to compensate for changes in air temps for the MAF.

And I forgot to mention I can screw mine up and down and its basically useless....it changes the idle a bit but honestly I had forgotten all about it ..

Well I dont have any funds for upgrading at the moment, just need to get it running.
can I get some pics? and/or a PN off of it? so I can see how its wired
Perhaps after I get it running I might sell it in the future, but I doubt what I could sell it for would help much in getting something new, so it might not be worth it.

if the pot was a replacement for the AFM temp sensor, couldn't you salvage a temp sensor from an AFM and wire it in and install it in the air filter tube?
the AFM is kind of tricky to disassemble but the air temp sensor comes out easy enough.

Simplest thing to do is get the resistance reading off of an existing APE MAF potentiometer (since you have no idea what scaling is used in the software) at ambient from another rennlister and just wire in a static resistor with the same value.

The potentiometer used with the APE MAF replaces the Intake Air Temp (IAT). In their software, the IAT compensation tables are in use. No idea why!
The potentiometer or IAT signal is used by APE for various engine running states, not just idle.
The simplest way is to use a 2.2k ohm (approx 70 deg) resistor or a linear pot in the 4-5k ohm range. To wire it one side goes to Ground, the other side goes to pin on IAT pin/wire on the DME. Using an actual IAT sensor with APE may not be the best solution as it may have many side effects.
Look at this thread Here to get an idea of the wiring. There is a picture that may help you.

Autothority maf setup
I just got a '87 951 and it came with a never installed Autothority maf setup with both tune chips. I dont want it. Do you think there is anyone out there that would buy it, or is it trash?

ILL TAKE IT! Like it says in my earlier post on this thread, I have to switch computer setups because I always swap from my 89 to my 86... According to a to some people the Autothority MAF cant deal with he Ethanol Fuel but thats a risk Im willing to take.

is it possible to private message you so I can send you pictures and we can discuss a price.
