OK to tow 1986 turbo using tow strap to tow hook?
Google was not my friend today...
Need to tow my 1986 Turbo to a shop, around 4 miles, is it OK to tow using tow strap to tow hook screwed into front bumper or is it only for pulling up on a truck?
Rather save the $200+ and not use a towing service if I can... I have towed cars in past so familiar with how to, etc.

You could, but you shouldn't. Tow straps aren't really for pulling a car at speed, rather to pull and move short distances.
It's gonna cost more than $200 if you have an accident or damage your bumper. Such a short distance shouldn't be that much - I'd call a few more companies. $100+miles is flatbed in my area.

The problem with the U-Haul dollies is that they are made for higher stance car or pick-up (pivoting deck type dolly). I’m sure U Haul offers low profile dolly’s,? If they do use them. You would need a low profile car dolly like KarKaddy makes to tow the 944’s (has wheels that turn and are linked together with tie rods vs a pivoting deck). Or take off your front bumper, splitter and use the U-Haul dolly. The low profile dolly’s are the way to go if your not using a flat bed service. Also the flat beds haven’t been to nice to the front of 951 front bumpers and splitters in the past, although each tow truck/flatbed and operator are different(some care, some don’t). I recommend finding a low profile dolly and doing it yourself. Or pay the money. Any way you look at it your spending money.

Use the tow hook to have it pulled up on a proper flatbed tow truck! And, yes, AAA is seriously worth its annual fee. One of the best values out there with roadside help, towing and DMV services for very little money...

Never had an issue with uhaul 2 wheel dollies or full trailers, 944 turbo bumper, radiator, etc clears 1" or better at stock height.
And flat bed is fine too if you show the driver how to hook the car underneath, if you don't have the hook.
