Just curious, but what are you guys paying for these resprays? I've often thought of having mine done for the hell of it, but was always figured it would be cost prohibited.

i'm getting a friend-of-a-friend to do it, so i don't feel right disclosing the price (i do have to admit, i have some reservations about that kind of business situation - however, the work he's done is truly amazing, and i trust him if my friend and his other customers have trusted him). a friend of mine just paid about 4500 to respray his 97 nissan maxima and i don't feel it was worth more than 3k of that from the quality / end-result (imo they didn't do the best job preparing the surface and there are a lot of sanding/swirl marks), however we'll see how this comes out, esp. w/ the fiberglass etc...

Mine will end up costing crown molding in the bedroom, paint in the sons room, shadow boxes in the hallway, and one redone basement. Not bad considering the end result. Excuse me now, I have to get back to my miter saw.

Really you will have to spend at least 4K to have it done right which I know would buy some serious upgrades, but the reason I was able to get the car so cheap was do to the poor condition of the paint and clear coat. I would do it all over again, but this time I would do all of my 968 stuff to it first.

I think that I might go with this color in the picture, but I'm not really sure. Black is still my favorite choice.

Thats an awesome color! I like that blue or the copper! Or signal orange, thats a beautiful color too! (think old 914s...) Personally, the original Cobalt Blue is nice, LM5N, but the new one is cool too. I will honestly say, blue is a pain in the *** with stone chips. They go white instantly! Black is black, you touch the damn thing up with a sharpie and look decent, but blue is very fussy with touch ups.

wow that blue is incredible - however it seems to "shrink" the fat back end of our cars, and i actually kinda want to accentuate the widebody aspect of my car (baby-got-back hehe). thx for the pics everyone, and the suggestions. i really do think i'm set on the copper/orange thing, i just have to find an exact color/code (monday hopefully @ the local paint supply store)

Dude, anything but red and it will be sweet.

I just wish you'ld keep it silver/grey for when you sell it ( . . . to me)!

I should say that yellow cars are horrible, they attract the attention of the police, they look washed out, they go slower, nobody likes the colour and its a common colour. I suggest you go with some other colour.

heheh I painted my car this colour so that it would be kind of different.... I guess all good things must come to an end and I seem to recall some saying about imitation and compliments... Seriously though I could'nt be happier with the colour of my yellow 951. I reckon it suits the 944 perfectly.

There's a reason red is common. But if you don't think you can pull it off...

As for being a cop magnet, I'm not so sure about that. I think they'll pull the trigger on anything they think is moving too fast.

Is my bias showing?

What color is it now?

i think it's down to that or the blue... i did a (cheesy) mock-up of what my car would look like w/ the blue (considering the headlight-buckets and IC vent and no fog lamps / oil coolers there)... excuse the quality, i don't have photoshop on my laptop so i hacked it in illustrator...

If you like both blue and orange, why not combine them. Someone at our Dutch 944 forum created a 3D mock-up of a 944 in Gulf colors.
