Default Anyone in Texas build a hybrid stroker

I am currently in the process of having a 2.85 liter hybrid stroker engine built. After 2 machine shops and extended waiting, I am becoming very frustrated with the process. Every machine shop I have talked to in Houston seems to either not be interested in custom work or have a wait time of a few months up to a few generations until the work can be completed. The whole concept of the hybrid build was to use easily available parts to ensure a quicker build.
Are there any eople in the Houston area preferably with experience building a hybrid stroker? Where was the work done and an estimated turnaround time.
Thanks,
Steven

I believe the 2.85 originated in Texas.

I am not going to make Austin this month. I went to Barber last month and lost my turbo. Still waiting on a replacement, Garrett claims they are sending it out on Monday. If you get the opportunity, you need to go there, it is one heck of a facility. Alabama PCA will be holding a DE in April I believe.

Do you remember all the instructors telling "you head up look for track out and back your way out of the corner to see where your braking point is". Well that doesn't work there as you are at the end of your braking point when you see the apex and at the apex before you can see track out. I plan on returning it was a lot of fun. I would love to go with a Texas contingent.

Finally the machine shop has begun work on my 2.85l stroker build as well as another 3.0l based stroker build. The machinist said they are planning to grind the crank today. They hope to have the work done within a week from now. I can't wait to finally get it back and start reassembly.

So your machine shop is doing the offset grind on the crank, straightening the crank, and sleeving the block? Are you having them add the windage ports between cylinders too? Where are you getting this work done?

Yes, they are doing all the machine work in house. I discussed the windage ports with him before but I will try to call him again on Monday to see about adding them in. Faermann Racing in Houston is doing the machine work.

Windage ports go between cylinders 1/2 and 3/4.

I called the machine shop this morning and mentioned the windage ports we had talked about previously. I also sent him the link to an old Lindsey racing page showing more detail. My block has the flat space for the ports from the factory but would need to be milled to open them between the companion cylinders. Luckily, another person is having similar hybrid work done to his 3 liter block so I asled the machinist to look at the factory design and see if he can replicate that on the 2.5 liter block. He said he will take a lookand let me know how feasible that is.

It is feasible as I have done it.
