Unhappy need help removing transaxle

Hello everyone, need major help removing my transaxle. Got a small socket that fell into the bellhousing and can't manually turn the crank. I am trying to remove the transaxle so I can move back the torque tube. The problem is turning the torque tube so I can remove the other allen bolt to disconnect the tube from the transaxle spline. 1) will the tranasaxle come out by just removing the bolts? 2) what are my options? Thank you .

Go to Clark's Garage and look at the info on transaxle removal.

Depress the clutch so you can access the piece that joins the TT to transaxle. ( need to turn 90 90) to get to the Allen bolts. Once that sleeve is disengaged you will be home free follow Clark's garage procedure.

Thank you. The problem I am having is that the TT is not turning when I depress the clutch. Note : I disconnected the gear linkage. Will that effect anything?

Can you turn the engine over backward to possibly remove the socket or hopefully get it to fall to the bottom of the bellhousing? Pulling the transmission and bellhousing is a lot of work..

Yes. I tried turning engine backwards, but it won't budge. When I try to turn backwards the the crank nut gets loose. Thanks.

If the TT won't turn, your only option seems to be to take the engine out so you can remove the bellhousing and find that socket.

Maybe you can modify a small USB camera with a light, and glue a magnet on it to snoop through where it fell and grab it. I have had good success using these little devices under intakes and even fished stuff out a spark plug hole. For $24 and a small/long gooseneck you might get lucky.

yes, i have a little camera too. I also use an old hard drive magnet for all kinds of stuff...put one end on a sting and go fishing....they are small and powerful. Also, if its wedged, put the rear on jack stands and try to spin wheels. to see if you can get it unwedged
