Default does the stock intercooler crack?

Been trying to track down a lean situation for a long time. Everything indicates an intake leak somewhere.. pressure test doesn't show anything. Was just checking the car again and sprayed some starting fluid into the intercooler vent at the front bumper and the idle increased am wondering if it developed a crack. Car has a maf with a cone filter.

cracked weld certainly possible, the core could leak if a big rock or something hit one of the tubes, but i cant help but wonder if one of your intercooler couplers is leaky ?

But the duct leading up to the front of the ic is sealed......couplers are less than 12 months old.. tight clamps..

You need to do a smoke test.

The duct to the front of the IC is hardly sealed given the age of the car.

You can take the couplers off the intercooler, cap one side, and test it in situ to see if it holds pressure (or vacuum).

Why not remove the intercooler and fill it with water to see if it leaks?

I vouch for the smoke test but don't let Spencer do it, last time I asked him to do a smoke test this is what he had in mind

i spent too much time in the valley, the Armenians were a bad influence on me

though a hookah would make a great smoke-tester
