I'm taking the day off work to build the brackets for some brake cooling ducts, and am running a fan full blast, and coming inside frequently for breaks.
Yep, we've been getting the same thing, luckily by after lunch, for about 50% of the days, it gets partially cloudy.
I do the same as you though, pace yourself and take breaks.
If I'm boxed in, like building a cage, I have a real portable air conditioner, not an evaporative swamp cooler that I aim at myself through the 1/4 glass ports.

What brackets are you making, a-arm ones for the scoops..?

I have a 3d template for those made out of wood paint stirring sticks and super glue....

The Swedish supplier can make it in clear, smoke tint, and green tint like stock glass.
Its shaped like the stock glass so it is a matter of removing the glass and after that glueing the lexan to the hatch frame. Looks and work like a glass hatch but as T mentioned it is extra important too use both hands when closing.
Looks great...., and if I habd't said it yet, the whole car looks great for that matter.

Did you mask the black border and spray it from under side...?

I guess so but I just meant that the shaped and fit is so good that no other work has to be made than simply glueing it to the frame.

Thanks! It has that black border from the supplier to protect the adhesive from UV radiant. Also looks better and more stock IMO.

I'm making a smaller bracket that replaces the stock backing plate, and am attaching these flanges:

Sorry but oldschool Swedish supplier. No link/website. One man show for us in Sweden. Only other supplier I know of with similar quality is plastics for performance in the UK and they ship worldwide

I just weighed my '89 and it came in at 3060 lbs. that's with 18" wheels-235 front and 275 rear Continental ECS tires, FG front splitter, spare, tools, jack, air pump, normal interior but with no rear seat back. I also had 1/3 tank of gas. I weighted the rear seat back and it was 20lbs.

That seems about right. It utterly amazes me how people are able to get these cars down into the low 2000 lb range - that amounts to removing nearly half a ton!

Had a conversation with Five Star and they confirmed the 3/16 944 Lexan hatch is $388. Shipping is $65-ish if UPS will accept the size of the box, otherwise it’ll be $165 for freight. That’s shipping from Wisconsin to Massachusetts. More than one unit can fit in the box in case anyone else lives nearby.

T and Max - Does the Five Star lexan have the black painted stripe around the perimeter?

T - how is that Tub coming along? Did you ever put it in the big "oven" to burn off all the paint, rust proofing and sound deadener?

No, I does not have the black border.
Five star does offer border paint. The last 2- windshields and rear hatch Lexan's that I ordered were shipped via UPS

The rear Lexans that I have ordered come rolled up in a box so the box isn't even that large.

Finishing up a home made rotisserie before it gets carted off to oven, but yes, still going.

I will need to epoxy prime the floor when I get it back and rinse off the rust inhibitor that they spray on, so I pretty much had to have a rotisserie ready for that.

Front is done and working on the back end stand.

Basically, I converted two identical engine stands that I had by extending leg stance width, etc. but the main issue is having the center pivot point high enough off the ground for the entire tub to clear the ground.
That, and having a virtual centered line through the chassis (rear bumper mount is 1.5" lower than front) so the whole thing turns true.

Working on a plan to weld a SB chevy flywheel to the front pivot so I can weld up a carrier that takes a shaft and a starter drive gear that will be turned with an impact to make spinning the car easier.

Truth told though, the tub can't weigh all that much (hadn't checked yet - will do once stripped) as I can pick up the whole front or rear 2 feet by myself.

Will post pics soon.

T - that rotisserie sounds awesome and you should make stripping the shell and prepping it for paint a service. I’d pay for it!

The most effective weight loss is by eliminating the sunroof. You save at least 60 lbs at a position that affects the most in handling which is at the very top of the roof line. Having said that, unless you custom order it from the factory without the sunroof, you are not going to find one in the used market.
