Usually Honda motors can only take 6-9psi of boost. So the power increase isnt that much. Honda's usually are pretty damn light cars so if he got traction and doesnt just spin the tires he will probably get a little lead on you at a start but 2nd gear and up your 951 will easily pull pass it.

Race him, no shame in losing. Its all for fun.

That is largely dependent on the compression ratio of the engine, a 944 n/a or 968 can only take 6-9psi of boost (if that much, would definetely need to be intercooled or some other form of intake charge cooling)....but if you drop the compression (ala 951), much more boost can be run.

Do it from a rolling start. Give him some **** about your clutch slipping.

From a 40 roll, 3 beeps... trust me you'll pull on him like whoa.

I don't care how much boost he's running. I hope he blows the engine during the race.

Well, for what it's worth I raced a modified Civic Turbo and I beat him from a stop up to 110-120. I really pulled on him good from 80 on. It was nicely setup too. I don't know how much boost he was running but it was pretty quick. Hope this helps.

there's a white civic hatch around here that's got a built turbo b18 (gsr motor) making 530 fwhp
it runs 10 second 1/4 miles...
heh, but it's strictly track car, he doesnt take it on the street
but i doubt there's many other civics around that can compare to this one

with the right tunning(hondata) these cars can make incredable hp...chris the guy with the turbo gsr i told you about in my eariler post ...will go from his current 286fwhp to 350 because with the hondata he will be able to turn up with the boost....remember its all about boost ...so ask him how much boost he is running......and like i said before...chris car has a fully built motor with t3/t4 turbo...running 9 psi of boost....he has everything you can imagine done.....and i walked him hard with me on 20 psi....once i swap out my turbo it will be much worse....of course he might have his hondata by then so it could be a different story who knows.......i am not saying his car isint fast i am just saying from a roll i really dont see him betting you with his current mods....if i ever get this hole video capture thing figured out then i will start posting all of my racing video's from the summer.... including the one with him telling all of his mods for the camera and......then me beating him by a car to 120mph (me on 16psi) and then me walking him hard on 20 psi......i think you will be surprised at your cars performance when you do these mods.....from a roll this guy isint going to beat you.

There's so much confusion when ppl talk about Hondas. I spent most of this year tuning a lot of Civics, Integras, etc. for friends. Everyone that's comparing a honda seems to forget that Hondas are damn light... So they only need 2/3 of your power to keep up.

I've tuned several B16a turbos on pump gas, and they trap around the 108mph range at this elevation in a CRX (260whp). The b18b's (non vtec) on pump gas in an Integra pushes 111mph (280whp). There's a few turbo civics with B20b (CRV motors) that pushes around 120-125mph on race gas (340whp).

As a comparison, my car traps about 108mph on pump gas (320whp), 117mph on 103 octane (450whp).

The best thing about hondas? They're frickin' CHEAP to work with. I'm building a 12 second civic right now that's going to double as my AutoX car (mod class) next year, and the entire project costs less than $8k .

Standalone EFI's are cheap... buy a stock OBD1 integra ECU for $50, add $10 worth of parts to make an external EEPROM, and use the freeware Hondata style programs and you have a full standalone ECU for $60.

Did you guys check out the Hondata dyno link? I watched the video of Erick's Civic/GSR.
268 rwhp. 11 sec. quarter. Hello! I'm pushin' 350 rwhp and I can't touch that. Watch the video. It's sick. When the car weighs 1000lbs less it kinda makes a bit of a difference.

remember to empty out your car for the slight edge. That means no spare no jack and no big macs before the "race" Remember to gently drop the clutch AT 4000RPM and feather the gas pedal to keep from spinning the wheels. Don't let it bog down below boost or you'll embarass youself.

BTW street racing is BAD!

When I say hondas are cheap, I'm not kidding.

Car for sale on my forum... runs high 11's at our elevation. Complete car for $5000cdn (about $3800usd).

Here's my rice rocket... it's ugly, but it's gonna be faster than my 951.

I recently went to a dyno day at a honda tuning shop. The numbers those cars were putting down made my jaw drop. The top pull of the day was off their drag civic, which put down over 800whp (boosted, bottled) And some prelude pulled 600 with boost and bottle. Absolutely sickening.

But yeah, low weight will really help a car in accelerating. Heck, somebody made a 10sec geo storm, with a 1.6L motor.

haha... speaking of that. My friend read about a Geo metro that was at the bonneville salt flats. It was one of those 3 cylinder versions except this guy had a turbo and nos. It topped about at 153ish. Thats hauling for a car like that. My friend had a 3cyl one that we use to offroad it and beat on. I don't know how that thing even made it up to 65.

you pro hondas are forgetting something.
every statement you made can easily and more so be applied to vw's
strip down a rabbit, build it up to 200 hp and let the bodies hit the floor
my friend has a stripped down scirocco with a g60 engine from a corrado and a t3/t4 turbo, and a 5 sp, it's getting tuned right now.
now that car will eat rice and ask for Porsche for desert
(I'm guessing that we will be equal in acc but I will win on the highway - gearing)
he already out handles me with coil overs, but I have stock 17 yr old Boge (not koni's) shocks - that will change.

Everythng but the cheap part .

There is another category of cars that's even cheaper to build than hondas... domestics. 9s mustangs are surprisingly cheap to build.
