Hello All, new to the forum here. My 1984 944 has a problem with the windshield wipers. They will come on but only sweep about half way up the windshield and then get stuck making a squealing noise. I can then move them by hand a little further and they will sweep the rest of the way and return back to the bottom. I have though about removing the motor and cleaning but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas before I did this. Thank You

Remove the motor, disassemble the gear box, then clean and lube, re-assemble. Carefully, small parts present.

NOTE: Carefully examine how the mechanism from the motor to the wiper arm axles is put together when you take it apart, otherwise your wipers may not arc correctly on the windshield.
