944S shift boot replacement, good quality one?
So I'm in the process of rebuilding my shifter on the 87 944S. Inner boot was trashed as was the outer leather. New inner boot is in and fine, however the $19.99 Ebay outer leather turned out to be garbage. The seams literally split as I spent an hour trying to work it onto the handle with my fingers. Having no clue which end was forward didn't help either.
So anyone know where I can get a good (read, thin with real stitching) leather boot? Or does the $90 Pelican one work on a real shifter? Or anyone want to make a quick buck putting a boot on my shift ****?
Frustrated.

Three Wheelin'
I always Used ALGA ( Alan Gunn) leather products. They are in Fla.. Boots are good qualtity, USE BABY POWDER! Put it on the inside of the leather, Helps in sliding over the plastic. A Trip to Lowes or Home Depot for a small brown bottle of contact cement to glue under the shift pattern indicator, getting that plastic cap back on you will need pound that sucker on with a plastic dead blow .. They dont look like they will fit but the leather stretches Really well but it takes allot of pulling and pushing but the end result is always good.. I sewed up my steering wheel as well with their kit.. came out good.
