changing the top on my 944s2 cab
Hi
I have to change the top on my 944S2, have never tried it before.
So does anyone in here know of a how to or know of a manual, tread, pictures, can't seem to find much on the web.
Thanks
Claus - DK

Changing the top isn't an insurmountable task for the home mechanic but it does require quite a bit of time and a thorough attention to detail. There is an entire section addendum to the FSM regarding cabriolet tops and Porsche released a separate technik manual for dealer service technicians. It is available in PDF form throughout the web by searching.
Rather than having a mechanic install a new top, I would recommend you speak with some maritime shops in your area. The canvas fabric is very similar to the material used by sail boats and I had good luck getting assistance from a maritime shop. You might also look on your local car forums and see where the Miata folks get their tops installed. Regardless of the shop, you do get what you pay for in terms of materials so don't be pennywise and pound foolish.

I'm interested in your experience as I'll have to do this as well in about a year from now.
I have the Technical Bulletin electronically in the form of a pdf - if you'd like (or anyone else would) feel free to PM me your email and I'll send it over.
