Rod Bearings
Hey, everybody,
Planning to pull the engine on my 924s to do rod bearings in a couple weeks (as a preventive measure (most likely will be a LeMons car)). Looking for some recommendations on the parts list for the job. I'll be doing the balance shaft delete, as well (don't try to talk me out of it), so I'm planning to use the pick up tube reinforcement from Paragon. Trying to keep this as minimal as possible, my list so far:
-Main seals
-Oil pan gasket
-rod bearings
I appreciate any input on the subject in general!

Unless your building a motor that has a scheduled rebuild time in hours and not years, leave the balance shafts in. Add motor mounts to your list, don't cheap out, get the factory ones. Most aftermarket ones are junk. Get a new pickup tube too, reinforcing a old one is a waste of time since the metal is already fatigued from age. The Lindsey Racing oil pan baffle kit is a nice "while your in there" upgrade too

P.S. "minimal" on doing anything internal in these motors isn't a reasonable term lol. Make sure to look at the cylinder walls too, if they have heavy scoring you have other issues

You need new nuts for connecting rods. And it's unnecessary to pull the engine for bearing change. Nothing to gain from removing balance shafts. Only heart ache.
