Do all 944 fuel filler openings look like this?
Still trying to solve my gas smell issue, and I've replaced the sender gasket, put on a new gas cap and I've now taken apart the filler neck housing to see if there are any cracked hoses or broken clamps....
And I did notice this - it appears that my filler neck opening may be slightly out of round, to put it awkwardly, and if anyone could take a look next time you are at the gas pump - do all 944 filler openings have this indent at the bottom?? I'm now wondering if this could be part of the problem, as even the new gas cap could not cover this.... but the smell is bad, so i'm not sure this could do it alone.... thanks,

the smell is from the hoses related to the evap system hidden on the inside of the car attached to the filler pipe, and top of the fuel tank.
if you lift up the carpet on the side of the trunk around the fuel filler pipe and lift up the cover thing as well you will see some of those hoses
