Default Valve guides - 944 NA 8v

Hi All

Long time since I've been on the forum , I am currently looking at replacing the guides for all 8 valves in the cylinder head . I have done numerous searches(here and elsewhere) for information on guides but all I can find is info on using the Porsche first oversize guides .

Are there any other guides available ? When the engine was relatively new were there guides available that were to the original size from Porsche ? My machine shop are proposing to grind down the oversize guides and push them in to the existing guide bores with an interference of their choice. I see from the manual the Porsche procedure is to oversize the bore of the guides and then grind to give an 80 micron interference fit

Any comments ?

I've used the 1st oversize on a number of heads over the years - they just drill the hole in the head out a smidge bigger...what's the problem?

Rumor has it original-size replacements are available if you ask the dealer.

Where are you located? Perhaps another shop would be better?
