Help me fix my '86 944!
Really need some expertise on this-
My parents have this old 944 and I really want to see it running. Fuel pump and filter have been replaced, gas is getting to the engine. It ran for a few seconds after we started it up, but then it died and wouldn't start.
If anyone knows ANYTHING about what might be going wrong, definitely feel free to say something.

It sounds like you are ready for a fun challenge. If you haven't looked at it yet, Clark's Garage has a great trouble shooting section that may help you work through things in a systematic way.

Hopefully you didn't snap the timing belt Pull the distributor cap and check that the rotor turns when you crank the engine. If it doesn't check that it's tight on the shaft, the screw can come loose, if it's tight and doesn't turn then you have probably have some bent valves from the timing belt snapping.
