Hello all. New to this forum and the 944. Had 82 924 in the past. Question is i am replacing rear main seal and new seal i received only has rubber seal only halfway back on outer lip of seal as compared with the one i removed. Since it is a big job don't want to have to do it twice so wanted to know if this looked like a defect or if this is how they are now manufactured. Concern would be particular around slot on block for the seal removal. New seal in made by Victor Reinz. I have attached pictures of the one i removed vs new one i have. Thanks for any advice.
