Great tip and good to know! Mine are pretty ratty, and I have new ones to go back on, but have been tied up on more major repairs...hopefully it will be better than Goo Gone..

@951and944s

Thanks for that tip on the 3M adhesive remover. I took an hour or two this weekend and found a can. Couldn't find the exact kind you recommended but I found another 3M product that seemed to work well. Still took a lot of scraping and rubbing, but the paint was not bothered. Car looks 100% better without those faded rock guards...

No problem, they package the same stuff in a 1 qt. can with a pointed spout too, same chemical though.

What eases the pain is to spray or keep wet at the top but work from bottom up since the drip/run down keeps the bottom more saturated.

Car looks way better. Good job.

If at a paint supply store, SEM offers a product called SEMSolve but I figured you'd be more likely to run across the 3M.

It was a long time coming, but finally got to the track. Took the opportunity to do an HPDE event with NASA north east at NJMP lightning circuit. What a blast! 32 year old car was a champ. Ran it hard for 4 separate 25 minute sessions and drove home at the end of the day.

It's been way too long since I posted an update. Posting occurs much more often when there are problems as there is less time to just drive.?

Since my last post in November of 2017 I completed 2 more HPDE events at New Jersey motorsports park. Then this past summer I got word that new duties would be taking our family to California. We had 3 vehicles for the cross country trip and one had to go. Since the 944 is a keeper our XC90 had to go.

A cross country trip in the 944 would have been awesome, but a wife and 3 kids can't quite fit, lol. We ended up towing our camper with our Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 944 followed along eventually via auto hauler.

I put it right to work at another HPDE event at Buttonwillow in Bakersfield California shortly after arriving.

It's now been:
3 years as a daily driver
4 HPDE events.
14,000 miles driven
and no major issues.
