I have to look it was 3 years ago. I know one thing, I didn't pay $347 that they are now asking for the Enthusiast Kit that works for the 944S2 on the durametric site. I am thinking the price had gone up considerably in the last 3 years. I remember in the $200 range.

today i said screw it and snipped the 2 wires at the controller to make the light(s) go off. i can always resolder if i ever feel like it. i had gotten so used to seeing that bright red ! that my retinas felt funny not being set afire. meh im happy.

bmm-any way you can provide more information on the "impedence in the electrical circuit" thing?

My 90S2 is doing the same thing, after I R&R'd the instrument cluster to fix the odometer. Was always fine before. I'm not sure I gave the airbag controller 30 minutes after I disconnected the battery before I got the steering wheel airbag off (as recommended). I have been assuming the airbag just needs to be reset, but based on this thread, I'm starting to wonder.

My symptoms are, after the car has started, the airbag, seatbelt, and "!" lamps go on. The airbag and "!" indicators go off for maybe 1/2 second right around the standard six second test interval, then stay lit after that.

I looked for that Molex connector spec'd in the clarks article, but couldn't find it. Maybe I need to pull the glove compartment?

On page 68-21 of the diagnostics manual, it says Faults 17-1A (which includes Fault 19) require replacement of control unit.

mine was totally fine (as well as other things) then after sitting for 5 years in a paint shop on a dead battery i started having different issues im still fixing. the airbag light was one of them. i've had a shop try 2 different methods to no avail. i think the controller went bad. but even if i choose to replace it, i couldnt take the (!) demon light any longer

I also recently had the seatbelt light stay on even with the belts buckled. Then, several hours later the airbag light illuminated and both have stayed on for several weeks. I will check the blink code to see what it is and advise. Mike

Wonderful. No sense in that, it's probably unobtainium, so it looks like I'll have to do the airbag delete option (METHOD 2: DISCONNECT THE CONTROLLER http://www.944s2.com/how-to/how-to.htm)

I've held off taking everything apart wanting to finish out the DE season, but off season I'll be after it. That and a steering rack replacement / rebuild.

<sigh> 20 year old cars.

Mhr, you offer is very much appreciated, but I've not taken the dash apart yet to get at it, so I don't know the part number. Going to have to finish off the DE season first. So it'll be a few weeks yet.

On S2 Coupe that controller part code is: 94461891700
Cabrio's are different.

I confirmed that I just need to do an airbag code reset, and also that the Clark's procedure does not work on the 90 S2. You have to have the hammer or durametric diagnostic device to do it, apparently. If you guys know a different way, let me know. Porsche dealer is happy to do the reset for $70!!!

Good to know how much dealer wants. I've been contemplating getting the Durametrics incase it ever comes back, or maybe someone in area has one that they could clear mine for a couple beers lol.

I am not sure the difference of controller is coupe to cab. I think late 90 and all 91 S2's have the later controller that require the electronic reset.
