18" Turbo Twist (993) to 1987 944 Application
OK, I know this is probably a topic that has probably been beaten to death
but, I was reading an old thread and was confused...(yeah, first mistake was
reading old threads & taking it as the proverbial gospel truth...). I am also
new to the forum...
Here it is, I recently bought a set of 18" staggered (18" x 8" Front) &
(18" x 10" Rear), rims off a guy who went to 17" on his 1999 Boxter.
I picked them up for $300 (quite the deal...).
I know they will fit on my 944, but will they need help? (spacers, fender
rolling, etc...). So I decided to research the old threads and came across
the same question and someone answered that they will, but one would
need to:
(Update caster blocks to run rims that big. Use solid blocks and joint tubular arms or some people just go with 968 blocks and stock arms).
I have not heard of this before or seen it. Any thoughts or knowledge
would be appreciated. I just want to get it right before fitment on my
944.

Whoops...I'm bad.
The rims were off of a 1999 Boxter S which is a 986 not a 993!.
I think the 18" Turbo Twist was available on the 97'-98' 993's, but- Hey I won't swear to it!.

Sounds great mro763^ !!!.
So, You didn't need a small (3-5 mm) spacer to clear the front hub or anything at all?
I've read that before, but it may have been an earlier (pre-85 1/2) 944 w/the earlier offsets...
Yeah, I never have read anywhere else in my searches- about changing the "caster blocks & arms".
Sounds strange to me...
Well, Hey!...Thanks for replying & Have a good one!.

Those wheels look great on your 944!, nice ride...
I am looking forward to getting my 18" Turbo Twist on my '87 944.
It's killing me kind of, the Proxes that came with the wheels are shot...
So, I found a great used set of Goodyear F1's on Craig's List for $100.00!.
But, now I am unemployed & broke(for the most part...) & with X-mass
coming up...I don't have the funds to get them mounted/balanced and
on my car. Plus, the tabs are expired and I only am floating with theft ins.
on the Porsche. So, even if they were on my car, I can't enjoy
them right now. Depressing...
Great photos & thanks for sharing ^!

Ok, I want to put 18" twists from a Boxter on my 1985/1 (early 1985 944) do I need to do any odd prior or should they just bolt on without having to use spacers or change out anything on my suspension?
Thanks.
Thanks.
