Question Firing order on 1987 944S

I bought a 1987 944S from a friend when it broke down on him. I'm not sure what all he did to try to get it running again, but it seems when he replaced the spark plug wires they may have gotten crossed somewhere. All 4 plugs spark, and I can smell the gas on them when I pull them out, but the engine only occasionally makes a weak popping sound (like maybe one cylinder is trying to fire). As far as I can tell the firing order is currently 1-3-4-2. Is this correct? It seems like a simple question, but I can't seem to find it documented anywhere!

Thanks in advance for any help!
