Post 85-1/2 tripometer

When I push the reset button the volt meter drops 2 volts and trip does nothing. Any suggestions before I blow some bucks on a new spedo to fix it.

Question

Didn't see anyother posts, so here it goes. Sounds like a you got a sticking solenoid that resets the trip meter or a short in the wires. Check the wiring. If you have some time you probably can pull the speedometer out and clean the solenoid. Not positive but its worth a shot, and will give you a chance to do some cleaning. Goodluck

Thumbs up

David,

I’d recommend having your speedometer repaired as apposed to buying a new/rebuilt one with an unknown history.

I was refereed to Specmo, a company in Michigan who did my buddy’s ’87 944S speed. I removed the speedometer and shipped it off to them. They repaired it and had it back in my hands in about seven-business days. It looked as good as new and cost was $125.00 + tax. Specmo’s address is listed below.

Specmo Enterprises
