airbag light stays on, how to reset?
I had to remove the instrument cluster of my '89 S2 last summer (to get the odom fixed), after re-assembly including carefully putting the airbag back in, the 'airbag' light in the dash is always on, any ideas on how to fix/reset it?
-thanks!

I'm pretty sure the S2 has the same connector in back of the glove box. Go to Clark's Garage and click on air bag:
<a href="http://www.clarks-garage.com/" target="_blank">http://www.clarks-garage.com/</a>
Clark seems to have made this reset a bit more sophisticated as far as parts required, but at least you have everything you need on timing. If you run a search on Rennlist you will find a more basic approach without buying clips and pins.
Hopefully this will do it, however, since you actually took the airbag out you may have other issues.

Here was my remedy after replacing my steering wheel with 930.
Take a ohm meter and measure the resistance across the old air bag. Go to Radioshack and get a 1/2w resister slightly above the reading. Put the resister in the plug from the dash to the steering wheel. With this approach my light went off.

i got fed up trying to fix it and just cut the wire. figured it didn't matter since i put in a non-airbag wheel anyway. you will be so happy when you start up and ALL of your warning lights shut off again you'll wish you just cut the wire a long time ago.

airbag light stays on, how to reset?
Fyi, the only way to fix this is with a Bosch hammer tool. Either find a dealer that has one, or buy one off eBay for $1500. This is only a problem on the late model 944S, S2, and 968. Clarks garage method works for all other 944s.
PS, if any one has the tool, the airbag light on my 1990 S2 cab needs resetting

968 Air Bag Lihgt
Well two trips to local dealer this summer & light is still on. They say i've
'no power' to multi connector (moldex?) behind glove box.
Car runs fine except i keep running 'red lights' as i've learned to ignore red light.
Is there some special way for reset that the current gen tech doesnt understand on a 20 Yr old car??
The Good news is Harper Porsche in Knoxville hasnt charged me anything for
hooking up Hammer Tool...Thanks Mark!!
