Question dropping oil pan

I think my oil pick up broke off....I have waited my few month cool down period (rebuilt top end, repainted car, new everything, and lost oil pressure after two weeks of driving last year and hated my car and put it in the garage) How hard is it to drop the oil pan? any one have any good tips? I feel like getting this car running again....thanks much...dan

Dan, go over to the 924/944/968 general board & read Rib's various threads. This is what he's been doing to his Turbo. Go back about three or four (?) weeks to the beginning of the saga.

Basically, on a na car with no turbo cross-over pipe, you have to drop the front suspension to get the crossmember out, to get the oil pan down. While you're in there, you may want to do rod bearings due to the infamous #2 oiling problem. I dunno if the oil pan baffle update applies to yopur car or not.

Summa y'all experts chime in here... isn't loss of oil pressure sometimes caused by a loose front pulley????

Jim, time for shower, supper, dancin'....yowsa, yowsa... <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

thanks for the info...the reason I think it is the pick up is because if I have the front end jacked up and not the rear the car runs fine, but as soon as I lower it, the pressure drops and I hear the lifters clanging. I checked the pully and I could not tighten it anymore...

Dan, sounds like you've got it pretty well diagnosed. I should add to my earlier post that you'll need to rig a support for the engine from the top; I think Ribs made a wooden frame to go across the shock towers and to the firewall. Check his old threads; there may be a pic..

Jim, back to F1 (thanks, Speed Channel!)
