Hello
I'm new here.
I have a ZLN S2 and I'd like to know which spark plugs to go for.
Is it possible to use brake fluid quality dot 5 in the car? (the owner's manual reads dot 3 or 4)
The car has been running since new on mobil 1 00W40; does it matter if I change to 5W50 (I can't find 00W40) ?
Thank you very much for your advices.
See you later

Welcome Thom!
DOT 5 is silicone based fluid. I believe the seals can take it, but I would check this out very carefully before I went and did it. I also think you need to wash out the hydrolic system before you make the switch. Methanol or ethanol or some such. I haven't done it, this is just from what I poorly recall in passing. I'd use ethonal if it won't hurt the seals so you can drink what is left over at the end of the job!
The Mobil 1 5-50 should work just fine, especially since it doesn't get all that cold in France. Not -30F, anyway.
There are a couple spark plug threads if you do a search. Many like the NGK copper plugs, as do I. What heat range, I will pass on as I don't have your car and any experience with it. If you never want to change the plugs again and don't care all that much about performance go with the Bosch Platinum.

Tom,
Don't know if you saw my note over on the main board but the Cibie lenses are now in the US and I should get them next week. Then out to you and your testing.
The wiring kits are going together and I'm happy as a clam, uncooked one anyways, with the results. Molex sent me some terminal parts and I finally have everything pretty well in place at a reasonable cost. It is quite humorous talking to some outfit that wants to sell me a "special price" part for $2.25 and I know I can get it from the guys that make it for $0.25.
Anyway, the wiring harness is looking good and a couple should be installed soon. Then you and your Son can decide. It will put the voltage to the lights, even if they are special run 165 watt jobs.
I should have Thom go over and punch a Valeo guy in the nose over their delays.

Hi Thom, welcome
Brake fluid: STICK TO DOT-4
The seals will go if you use DOT 5 and you will be inn for major cost soon.
If you deside to clean and use ethanol, as per IceShark above, AND use the remainder to flush the own body once the job is done, please do realise that the metal can have 95% concentration. I am not too sure the seals can handle this though.
The lining in the stomach however requires dilution to say 35% although some hero's claim they can have 50% (100 proof)
Oil can be 5W50 (or even 15W50).
Mine is running on 15W50 (summer only)
Does not need to be Mobil, just make sure you have the right API spec (SE or SF as per your drivers manual).
Spark plugs: Bosch WR5DC (as per manual vol A1)
Gap: 0,7 mm (+/- 0,1 mm) Torque: 25 to 30 NM
I have no personal preference for any make, just want them copper. Dont think the platinum plugs are worth the extra money.

DOT 5 is not compatible with non silicone based fluids. Unless you can be certain to remove all traces of the old DOT 3 from the system, probably by replacing or overhauling the calipers and cylinders and flushing the lines, then I wouldn't change over. The mixture results in a thick semi-solid goop.

Thank you all for your replies.
I bought some Mintex in dot 4 form but I haven't replaced it yet. How do I tell if the liquid right now in my car is dot 3 or dot 4?
If it is dot 3, do I have to behave particularly when replacing (cleaning the system in order to avoid mixes between new/old liquid, etc) ?
Salut!
