Default tilt steering?

Hey guys, I just bought a 1984 944 that I will be bringing back from the dead. I have a question I hope you can help me with. I am 6'9" tall and yes I fit in the porsche pretty comfortably but, Can I add tilt steering? This would make a big difference for me. If so will this be a major project? Thanks

I would like to know this as well. I'm not super tall, but the steering wheel feels like it's sitting in my lap. I can live with it, but it feels quite odd.

Yes, it would be a major project.

They did raise the steeering column in the later, 85.5 and newer cars. You may be able to swap that in, but probably requires a lot of fabrication work given that the earlier dash structure (the metal behind the dash) is completely different.

Adding a tilt steering column from a newer car would be even more fabrication work.

You could get an offset hub, that raises the wheel. But then when the wheel is upside down turning its going to be that much closer to your knees. Or you could get a D-shaped wheel.

Take care!

I have a late style 944 and the wheel still feels pretty low. After a few drives I've gotten used to it, so it's not a big deal anymore.
