944 quattro AWD swap
anybody ever heard of someone doing this?
swapping the quattro awd drivetrain from an A4
into a 80's 944?
I thought it could be a good idea, but it sounds like a bit of an
undertaking.
it could also be a horrible idea, so correct me if Im
wrong

Not to rain on your parade, but the audi engine is in front of the audi transaxle. There's not enough room to move the engine that far forward in a 944 engine bay. If you look at a 944 engine, it's mostly behind the front axle center line. The Audi has the whole engine and part of the trans in front of the axle.

IIRC, Saab engines have this funky dumbass design where the transmission is under the engine and it's front-wheel-drive. If they ever made an AWD Saab, that might be the ticket. I bet that front transaxle/engine assembly has a better chance of fitting in a 944, but it would definitely need a big bulged hood, haha.

The Saab 9-2x is all-wheel drive... However it is simply a stock Subaru WRX with Saab Badges...
AWD is Boring (except in Snow, or Dirt -my old Subaru impreza was SO much fun in the snow).. HA HA!!! I love rear wheel drive though!
