Default early 944 steel arm rear coilovers?

So Im still convinced rear coilovers do not exist for the early cars. I have worn out the search button reading every thread I can find. The end result of all my reading:

50% of forum members say the kits for the late cars will fit (which is so wrong) and the other 50% will send you on a wild goose chase for parts that dont exist.

Can anyone come up with a definitive answer? Is converting to aluminum 85.5-86 arms the only way to do it? If so, exactly what do I need to buy to complete this swap on my '84.

Maybe, depends on your mechanical ability, and tools available.

Sounds like its doable then. Can we run through a checklist of what I need to do this?

Trailing arms
Spring plates
Rotors
Calipers
Halfshafts
Hubs/bearings
Anything I missed?

Since ill be running coilovers, can I just remove the torsion bar and put it back together without? Is that how its done?

The answer is get a regular 14" free length coil over shock or late model 944 shock and weld a mount on to the control arm so it works ..

What's wrong with Bilstein B46-0930 or B46-0204OR? Should be close.

Why don't the late kits work on the steel arms?

In Sweden a guy has used AVO coilover shocks, after doing some minor welding to the lower mount.
Sound way cheaper and easier than converting to complete newer setup...

Check with these guys. They have claimed that a steel arm coilover has been in development.
