Default my new 944...little help please

hey, just bought my first Porsche, it is a 1985.5 944 with a 1991 S2 engine in it. it needs a little work before i can drive it, but im pretty new to the 944's even though ive been researching and looking for one for a long time now. first problem- the guy i bought it from says it needs a catalytic converter because for some reason he just put a straight pipe on it for the time being, but i heard that if you put the S2 eng. in a regular 944 you also need an S2 exhaust which i dont think it has....should i buy a whole S2 exhaust or an aftermarket exhaust or just get a catalytic converter or what...and how can i tell if the one i have is a S2 or the stock one? second, when i start the car up, the front of the engine around the two belts starts squeeking pretty loud...ive heard other cars do this but im wondering if i should replace the belts or if it could possibly be the water pump going or something else? any help would be great and sorry if im asking some stupid questions...and ill post pics as soon as i can get it outta the garage to wash it up because its a beaut.

Try posting in the 924/44/68 forum under the WATER COOLED section...that area gets more traffic.

Don't know the specific answer to your question but someone there will...or try the search function.

Oh yeah...and congrats on the new 944 and WELCOME to rennlist !

Agree. Even the side skirts look pretty good - much better than the boxed ones I've seen in the past - nice!
