I'll start out with the usual stuff. Make sure to ask about the Tbelt and WP service. Take it for a nice drive and look for leaks at all stops. If the dash is nice that is real plus. For the money I would expect the carpet and seats to be very nice and near perfect rims. It looks like a nice car from the pictures but I would also add that for that price it should also be exceptional when seeing it in person. I believe low miles are something to pay a premium for so it might be worth something close to that. Anyone else think the car is worth $9000 if it really is as nice as it looks?

Three Wheelin'
I'd get an S2 instead
The S is a bit of a rarity. Not made for very long, and not really much faster than a normal 944. The S2 has a lot more torque and IMO a much better car. Or get a 968 - even better.

Have repaired many of these . Here is the single most important thing on the 944 S . You have the valve cover removed and check out the cam tensioner chain and the plastic slippers ( wear pads ) .When they go they take out the cam sprocket teeth and or the head itself. These are near impossible to find now and are worth a fortune. A 2000-2500 job at the least if you are lucky enought to find the parts. The brain is unique to this car also as are the alt and other engine parts . The S was not a high production run so the parts may only be available from Porsche. Remember you are talking about a 20 yr old vehicle and anything plastic or rubber is now dried out . The exhaust is diff also . hth

It was a great buy...I picked it up on April 24th and drove it back to Michigan. No issues, it had a bit of a sketchy maintenance history, but I had it post purchase inspected once I got it home, and then had the cam chain tensioner changed since it showed about 1/8" of wear. Mechanically, it passed everything with flying colors. So far the only items repaired have been:
Replaced the original 4x6 Blaupunk speakers (blown out) w/ 4x6 Alpine
Replaced all of the cracked stoneguard decals
Replaced passenger side window w/ OEM glass - must have had a break-in in the past
Replaced the faded Porsche crest
Had a small opening in the driver's seat leather re-sewn
Replaced both sunvisor clips
As Alpine Motors advertised, everything works - except for the driver's power seat, which i'll have to check into next.
Zaino'ed 3 coats and placed a top layer of P21S carnuba wax just for depth.
