944 rear speaker work
I just wanted to chime in with my experence on working on the 944 rear speakers. I read all the stuff about taking out the quarter glass, but I'm just too stubborn to and lazy to try it. I pulled the screws and just flipped up the vinyl. I was suprised that there was tons of room to get speakers in and out. The only real trick was that I had to put the rear seat down, then fold the vinyl out of the way as I pushed the seat back up. To get it back, just do the same in reverse.
I had no problems at all and it didn't scar my baby a bit.

now why would you ever want to replace that beauty of a speaker, its uh... vintage... obviously those large gaping holes in the cone are supposed to be there.
make sure if you put in a new speaker in the larger of the two mounting locations, you make some kind of cover to fill the hole where this old one fits in, otherwise nice find, much easier than popping the window out
