Been there done that. I started with an 86na. I bought a 87 turbo wreck. Rebuilt and swapped virtually everthing over including the late offset suspension, took nearly 2 years. I now have a 350+rwhp turbo that is bad ***. As others have said don't add up the reciepts, but I expect I have nearly 35k in this car. There's more to it that just a motor swap. You really need a wreck car for all the bits and pieces.

I am doing a rebuild on my 86 944 turbo. It is a major pain in the a-s. Every part on these cars is expensive and when the engine is out of the car you have to replace it..... There is no I'll get to it later... because later when the engine is installed you will go insane because the engine needs to be removed, or the subframe needs to be removed.... I hope you get the picture. So if you did do the swap you would want to replace the waterpump, thermostat, all belts and tensioners, clutch, throwout bearing, slave cylinder, oil pan gasket, motor mounts. Minimum to replace those components will be 800-1000 dollars and that is if you spend wisely.... So thats 1500 for the engine, and 1,000 for the minimum parts needed to install engine. 2,500. So, you can count on the swap running you 3,000 dollars when all said and done. Please sell you car for whatever you can get for it and put 3,000 more into your budget to buy a 944 Turbo. Believe me you will thank us later.....

here are the options i recommend:

1)
you should consider getting the 968 supercharger kit from 928 Motorsports LLC... and then customize it to fit your 944

https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...opment-25.html

2) or you should get all the parts from a 944 turbo DONOR car and just transplant them into your car, you dont really need the brakes and stuff unless you race/track your car.

3) you can also search and find the guy who made a homemade supercharger kit with a used eaton m45 supercharger (from a mazda miata) and outruns his 944 turbo from 0-60

4) then you can also consider talking to the guy (username: Red_Envy) who made his own kit and used a Thomas Knight Supercharger:

5) or you can take out your engine and redo it and do some kind of custom turbo system with the turbo on the exhaust side...

The supposed 89 S2 Cab is first and the 90 Turbo is second above the 90 S2... None the less porsche introduced the S2 as a 90 model year car... which does mean they sell them in 89 they still do this to this day pre-year end car sales... So what do I have to ask you..?

yes mine is labeled an S2 and titled as an 89
